Same person, New Place. Wheeee!

Yet Another Offsite! June 29, 2006

Filed under: Good Times — Nags @ 9:22 pm

I thought Q1 offsite was great but that was before Q2 offsite happened!! This time Team Fusion decided to chill out at Celebrity Club , a great place. So what if it rained? We still had a smashing good time!

Time for some pictures to prove that…

First was a caricature workshop by a guy called Vinod.. Maaan, he is talented. Well, anyway, he told us some tips on how to draw caricatures and we set out to draw the person next to us. Here is Prathibha’s caricature drawn by Mydhili.

ay back time!! Prathibha’s turn to get back at Mydhs.. Check out the caricature she drew for her!!

Now, that’s Sachin’s caricature drawn by.. hmmm.. I dont know who .. but check out the striking resemblance!

Now for some roomy love.. Thats Prathibha (Praaaatibaaaah), my batchmate, roomy, friend(??!) and yeah.. thats about it!

Us with Mydhili.. We love this gal.. She RAWKS!!

Me and Sumitra.. Sits next to me in office.. and we talk over the white board between us which freaks out the passers-by cuz they think we are talking to ourselves!!

Amrita babes and me! She is a sweety pie.. Hmmm.. she taught me to play table tennis and is still teaching me how to be as sweet as her (psst:she doesn’t know I am learning from her!)

Oh yeah.. then there was food.. Google never lets people be hungry for too long!! The food was great..(Photo clicked by Heather)

An offsite is not complete without Sachin pulling my leg… and yea.. a pic with him (grrrr)

We were forced into this pic.. I swear!!

Time to hit the dance floor. I know I look funny but that’s a very cool step I am doing.. wanna learn? Call me!

That’s us doing the ‘rigga digga diga diga song’. Venky, Vineet and Deepanjali behind me…

Huge thanks to the organisers Bhavani, Venky (in pic above) and Warren.. We had such a great time. All pics courtesy Mydhili and Rakesh…

One Roomy To Another… June 21, 2006

Filed under: Funny Stuff — Nags @ 2:36 pm

This is the story of two young men, Suhel Banerjee and Amrith Shankar, who were brought together by fate, destiny, whatever you choose to call it. Now, it is time for one of them to leave and let’s see what they have to say to each other.

Here is the edited version of a chat conversation I had with Suhel. Let’s see what he says:

“Like a possessive roomie I must say, he is a really simple guy, very innocent and one of the nicest human beings I have seen”

“He is more finicky and cleanliness freak than most women I have seen. He will not let you watch TV after your dinner is done unless you go and wash the plates and dishes right then and come back and sit down. He will show you the biriyani rice grains which you dropped during your last trip to the kitchen and you will dutifully pick them up again and take them to the dustbin (where they belong according to him).”

(Hahaha, imagine Suhel picking up the rice he dropped and putting it in the dustbin with a sheepish grin on his face. Don’t forget Amrith is standing over him like a second grade teacher!)

Moving on…

“If u plan to watch late night show /world cup, you need to inform him before leaving office and he will sleep in some other room”

“…and then the happiness on his face when he opens the carrier with more or less the same items everyday but still he is as excited as if its a new delicacy he discovers daily!”

(This I can vouch for.. Amrith is extremely happy with the carrier dinner he has every night)

Hold on.. More from Suhel…

“When he is in a happy mood, he will sing “tota merei tota tu to meri ho gayi” with the precise pitch changes at the right places…and when he is happier he will sing even cheaper hindi songs which everyone but him have forgotten..”

(I have heard him sing this song, and trust me, its not pleasant!)

“..you will sit down with him to watch the latest hindi/tamil blockbuster taken from the rented cd shop..and as soon as your favorite song starts he will fast forward it, coz he thinks there shud not be any songs in movies….and yet, since you know he is such a sweetheart you wont feel like telling him to play the song, coz the face he will make is exactly like a lil kid who is being forced to study:)…”

(Awwww, isn’t this sweet?)

“…yeah, he will call you ( or atleast me) fat monster and a zillion other horrible names and the next moment he will pull my leg by the funniest of stuff I have ever heard…. like:big shot, bas tu to ab google ka ceo ban gaya..”

Apparently Amrith always tells Suhel how he treats him..These are the words used by Amrith, quoted by Suhel..

“you know he , bloody big shot, comes in the middle of the night with all the women, and opens the door and find me sleeping on the floor. Then he kicks me and say s “joota saaf kar (clean my shoes)” and then asks his gals to kick me too. Servant hu mein, servant.” Then he goes to sleep and puts me in one corner of the kitchen and he makes merry and locks the kitechen door” just because he is a big shot with laptop and blackberry he can do all this”

” mein to ordinary worker hoon, mera roomie ka servant. bas roz office jata hu, ads karta hu, poor quality. emails bhejta, more poor quality. And everyone talks to me coz I am Suhel’s roomie. Mr wikipedia ban gaya hai na. Big shot pura. I am a dog in front of the big man”

“…And every day we are so embarassed coz we discuss about these things and somethings a lil worse, and then we see the drawing room window open and an auntie cooking in the kitchen right opposite…and we scout for cover..”

(Hahaha.. this is the funniest conversation between them)

Suhel: “ha ha ha, remembering all this I am also actually laughing out loud, but at the same time feeling really bad. Will be missing him loads. He is an amazing human being, and believe me it really does’nt require much to keep him happy. The smallest things in life bring a smile to his face.”

(Lets wipe our tears and see what Amrith has to say)

Amrith: he’s a nice human being..adjustable..we never had any fights in one year.. I know its gonna be tough.. it feels nice to hear what he feels about me…Sometimes, we don’t even meet each other for days, but the best part is, not once did we have anything close to a fight or a sulking”

(That’s it from Amrith and that the most emotion he has ever shown..)

A Chunk of Mission Impossible 3 and a Dash of Eat Street! June 20, 2006

Filed under: Good Times — Nags @ 6:14 pm

This saturday, the 17th of June to be exact, was quite a day. Prathibha and I though we have nothing to do and so started the day by getting up at aroung 10! Then we get at a call around 1 from Amrith saying they have 2 extra tix for Mission Impossible 3, are we interested? Man! Where we!

Quickly made some maggi, called it lunch, and set out to pick him up on the way to PVR Cinemas. The movie was not so bad, definitely not a disappointment. We were done by around 5:30 and I was hungry. Really hungry! What better place to go when you are hungry than Eat Street! We had some Frankies while Amrith gorged on pizza. It was a little cloudy and humid so we thought of chilling with some ice cream.

Some candied vanilla, vanilla laced chocolate and butterscotch later, we walked along the lake. It was beautiful.. You know how people say green is beautiful and the greener the place is, the better? I totally agree, but after moving to a city, I have learnt to appreciate the beauty of city streets, the lights that glow in a zillion different shades, the occasional firecrackers that don the sky indicating that there is a marriage happening.. I could go on.. After all, Hyderabad is the city of lights.

I was relunctant to get back but those two were getting restless so we took an auto back home. During the long, bumpy ride back, I couldn’t help admitting to myself that I had a great day!

Thursday night!! June 16, 2006

Filed under: Good Times — Nags @ 8:28 pm

A night to remember.. I don’t know if its for the rest of my life but I am sure I won’t forget this for a long time to come… We had a girl’s night out, Prathibha, Amrita and I. It was Thursday, agreed, but doesn’t mean we can’t have fun, does it?

Ten Downing Street!! That place rocks.. The distinct smell of cigarette smoke, drinks and food was more than welcoming.. a welcome change from all the traditional places we go to normally. The look on Prathibha’s face was priceless and there she was with her rainbow coloured hoola hoop freshly purchased from Lifestyle. Amrita, the rockstar, with her magic board sat opposite us and we ordered. The names of the drinks were alien to me and I really wanted to try ’sex on the beach’ but then settled for a Sangriana, which by the way, was amazing!

Food came next, more drinks and by this time I was sloshed. Managed to get home and even to office on Friday!

Girls, I had so much fun and we rock! Lets keep this going, shall we?

That’s us!! (Pic taken at Q2 offsite at Celebrity Club, much after this Thursday).. Still having fun!!

Never be the same again… June 16, 2006

Filed under: Moosic n Moovies — Nags @ 8:27 pm

Never be the same again…

I call you up whenever things go wrong.
You’re always there. You are my shoulder to cry on.
I can’t believe it took me quite so long.
To take the forbidden step.
Is this something that I might regret?

Nothing ventured nothing gained.
A lonely heart that can’t be tamed.
I’m hoping that you feel the same.
This is something that I can’t forget.

I thought that we would just be friends.
Things will never be the same again.
It’s just the beginning it’s not the end.
Things will never be the same again.
It’s not a secret anymore.
Now we’ve opened up the door.
Starting tonight and from now on.
We’ll never, never be the same again.

Now I know that we were close before.
I’m glad I realised I need you so much more.
And I don’t care what everyone will say.
It’s about you and me.
And we’ll never be the same again.

But sometimes it seems completely forbidden.
To discover those feelings that we kept so well hidden.
Where there’s no competition.
And you render my condition.
Though improbable it’s not impossible.
For a love that could be unstoppable.

But wait.
A fine line’s between fate and destiny.
Do you believe in the things that were just meant to be?

So things will never be the same between you and I.
We intertwined our life forces and now we’re unified.

Never be the same again – Melanie C

Wish You Were Here… June 16, 2006

Filed under: Moosic n Moovies — Nags @ 8:27 pm

This is something I scribbled.. It was raining slightly and I was on the 10th floor, looking out the windows.. the view was beautiful.. Thats the day I realised even cities can be beautiful and picturesque.. all it takes is a few drops of water!

I wish you were here
to see me now
to see how happy I am

I wish you were here
to hold my hand
while we look out the window

I wish you were here
to share this moment
and to feel the raindrops
on our faces

Sometimes memories are not strong enough
to help you through those difficult times
the presence of a person can never be compensated
no matter how much technology is advanced…

Team Offsite – Treasure Island !!! June 16, 2006

Filed under: Good Times — Nags @ 8:27 pm

This is a blurry image of a part of Treasure Island – that’s where we went for our Q2 Offsite. We had Go-karting, treasure hunt (of course), games like Table Tennis, Billiards, Foosball etc, a dumb charades game, great food and of course late night dancing! Follow the pics guys!!

First was go-karting. We had people who took it as a race and then again some others who just went for a jolly ride :D

This is us after the treasure hunt, all tired and happy. We don’t even remember which team won but all of us got the chocs!

That’s me trying a hand of TT. This game is not as easy as it looks but I had fun!

We had huuuge fun on the dance floor. It was around 11 in the night and there was smoke, great music, disco lights.. what more can you ask for.

That’s some of us girls smiling for the camera! Cheeeez..

This is Sachin and me. This guy is my cubemate in office and he drives me nuts!!! I am smiling only because we were taking a pic. Normally this is not my expression when he is around :)

Prathibha’s Parents’ Visit June 16, 2006

Filed under: Good Times — Nags @ 8:25 pm

Two weeks after Amma left, we had more visitors, again parents – Prathibha’s!!

After spending 2 weeks with her brother Praveen in Nasik, they joined us in Hyderabad. Thats when we went around all the historic places in Hyderabad. Check out the pics. All were taken with our phones!

Thats her parents and me at Golconda Fort. It is a few kilometres away from Hyderabad and there are quite a few impressive stone structures. It is a steep climb to the top which offers a breathtaking view of the city.

Golconda Fort again. Pic taken by Prathibha and this is one of her photographic moments where she can capture good poses.

Prathibha and her parents at the huge iron door at Golconda. It must’ve been beautiful when it was made. Signs of it can still be seen.

Thats how the Fort looks when you enter. It spreads out and towards the left is from where we begin the climb up.

The Qutb Shahi Tombs. There are 5-6 tombs here all built exactly like the Taj Mahal. But believe me, there is a huuuuge difference between marble and stone and cement :) . These are not well maintained too, sadly.

That’s me in the corridor of the Shahi Tombs. Great architectural quality but poorly maintained.
